Private driver in Morocco: one car, one driver, one fixed price
Damask is a private driver service based in Casablanca. You book one car and one English-speaking driver, for a single drive, a full day or a trip of several days. The price is per car, not per person, and we agree on it on WhatsApp before you travel.
At a glance
- A car and driver from €120 a day, or a fixed price per drive: Casablanca to Marrakech from €140.
- One price per car, whatever the number of passengers, the same in both directions.
- Four cars, from a sedan for three to vans for seven.
- An English-speaking driver, your flight followed, your name on a sign at arrivals.
- Booked on WhatsApp. We usually reply within the hour.

What you can book
Most trips need one of three things, and you can mix them in the same holiday.
A transfer from one place to another. You pay a fixed price for the car, and the price is the same in both directions. Casablanca to Marrakech costs €140. The drive from Mohammed V airport to central Casablanca costs €35. See all transfers.
A car and driver for the day. From €120 a day. The driver takes you from one place to the next and waits while you visit. You choose the stops: the sights of Casablanca, Rabat and back, or a slow drive down the coast. Day trips from Casablanca.
A trip of several days. The same car and the same driver from the first day to the last, on one of our private tours of Morocco or on your own route. The tours from Casablanca can start in the arrivals hall at Mohammed V.

How much does a private driver cost in Morocco?
With us, the price depends on the car and the distance, not on the number of passengers.
By the day
| Car | Passengers | Large bags | Per day |
|---|---|---|---|
| Škoda Superb, sedan | 3 | 3 | €120 |
| Škoda Kodiaq, SUV | 4 | 4 | €140 |
| Ford Tourneo Custom, minivan | 7 | 12 | €150 |
| Mercedes-Benz Vito, van | 7 | 7 | €180 |
By the drive, from Casablanca (price per car, the same both ways)
| Route | Distance | Drive | Škoda Superb | Ford Tourneo | Mercedes Vito |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Mohammed V airport | 30 km | 35 to 45 min | €35 | €40 | €45 |
| Rabat | 90 km | 1 h 15 | €70 | €80 | €90 |
| Marrakech | 240 km | 2 h 45 | €140 | €160 | €180 |
| Fès | 295 km | 3 h 30 | €180 | €205 | €235 |
| Tangier | 340 km | 4 h | €200 | €230 | €260 |
| Essaouira | 360 km | 4 h 45 | €200 | €230 | €260 |
| Chefchaouen | 340 km | 5 h 30 | €250 | €290 | €325 |
Drive times are door to door without long stops, a little more at rush hour.
What changes the price
- The car. Pick the smallest one that takes your group and your luggage: the Superb for up to three people with three large bags, the Tourneo when you travel with a lot of luggage.
- The distance. The one-way price is all you pay: there is no extra charge for the driver's empty drive home.
- The number of days. For a trip of several days we send one fixed quote for your dates, your route and your group, usually within the hour.
Per person, it often costs less than you think. Four friends in the Tourneo from Casablanca to Fès pay €205 for the car, about a quarter of that each. A couple in the Superb from Casablanca to Marrakech pays €140 for the two of them.
Private driver, train, bus, grand taxi or rental car?
Some Moroccan routes are easy without a driver, and others are much harder. An honest comparison:
| Private driver | Train | Bus (CTM, Supratours) | Grand taxi | Rental car | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Door to door | Yes | No | No | Partly | Yes |
| Luggage | In the car | You carry it | In the hold | Limited | In the car |
| Stops on the way | When you ask | No | No | No | When you want |
| Goes beyond the railway | Yes | No | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Who drives | Your driver | You |
The train is the best value between the big cities. The ONCF network links Tangier, Rabat, Casablanca, Meknès, Fès and Marrakech, and since 2018 the Al Boraq high-speed line has run from Tangier to Casablanca in 2 h 10. If you travel light from one big city to another, take it. There is no train to Chefchaouen, Essaouira, Agadir, Ouarzazate or the Sahara.
Buses go almost everywhere. CTM is the national coach company, and Supratours, run by the railway, connects train stations with towns such as Essaouira and Agadir. They are cheap and comfortable, but they keep their own times and their own stations.
Grand taxis are shared cars between towns. They leave when every seat is taken, and you can pay for all the seats to have the car to yourself. Inside the cities, small petit taxis run on the meter.
A rental car gives you freedom, at a price: you drive in heavy city traffic, look for parking near the medinas and handle the mountain roads yourself. Morocco drives on the right, the motorway limit is 120 km/h and radar checks are frequent. A foreign licence is valid for up to a year; an International Driving Permit is recommended, and needed if your licence is not in French or Arabic.
A private driver costs more than the train, and the gap shrinks as your group grows. You go door to door with your luggage, you stop where you want, and you reach the places the train does not. It also turns the drive into part of the trip.
Drive times between the main cities
Distances by road, city centre to city centre. Times without long stops.
| From | To | Distance | Drive |
|---|---|---|---|
| Casablanca | Rabat | 90 km | 1 h 15 |
| Casablanca | Marrakech | 240 km | 2 h 45 |
| Casablanca | Fès | 295 km | 3 h 30 |
| Casablanca | Tangier | 340 km | 4 h |
| Casablanca | Essaouira | 360 km | 4 h 45 |
| Casablanca | Chefchaouen | 340 km | 5 h 30 |
| Mohammed V airport | Marrakech | 230 km | 2 h 45 |
| Marrakech | Essaouira | 185 km | 2 h 45 |
| Marrakech | Agadir | 250 km | 3 h |
| Tangier | Chefchaouen | 110 km | 2 h |
| Fès | Chefchaouen | 200 km | 4 h |
| Fès | Merzouga (the Sahara) | 460 km | 8 h with stops |
| Marrakech | Merzouga (the Sahara) | 550 km | 10 h with stops |
The last two lines are why no one drives to the Sahara in one go. Our tours stop for the night on the way. See the desert tours.
What travellers book a driver for
- The airport and the first night. Mohammed V to the hotel after a long flight, then the city the next day.
- Casablanca to Marrakech without the city. The airport is south of Casablanca, near the Marrakech motorway, so you can go straight there in about 2 h 45.
- Rabat and back in a day. The capital is 90 km away. The Kasbah of the Udayas and the Hassan Tower in the morning, lunch by the ocean, back for dinner.
- A drive with a stop on the way. Casablanca to Fès by the Roman ruins of Volubilis, or Casablanca to Tangier with lunch in Asilah.
- Chefchaouen. There is no train, and the blue town is 5 h 30 from Casablanca by road.
- A week or two around the country. The imperial cities, the Sahara and Marrakech with the same driver from start to finish.
An example: five days in the north with a driver
Not every trip needs the desert. Here is a loop of the north from Casablanca that is easy by car and awkward by train, because Chefchaouen has no station.
| Day | Route | Distance | Night |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Casablanca to Rabat, a stop at the Kasbah of the Udayas and the Hassan Tower, then on to Chefchaouen | about 340 km | Chefchaouen |
| 2 | Chefchaouen: the blue lanes, the Ras El Ma spring, a walk above the town | Chefchaouen | |
| 3 | Chefchaouen to Fès | about 200 km | Fès |
| 4 | Fès: the medina, with a local guide if you like; or Meknès and Volubilis | Fès | |
| 5 | Fès to Casablanca, or to Mohammed V airport | about 295 km |
You keep the same car and the same driver for the five days, and we send one fixed quote for the whole trip. Add the Sahara from Fès and it becomes one of our tours.
Travelling with children or older travellers
A private driver makes the trip easier for both. The car stops whenever someone needs it, the driver handles the luggage, and the day can be cut short or slowed down. Child seats are on request; tell us each child's age. For older travellers, tell us about any difficulty with stairs or long walks: we plan the stops where the car can come close, and in the medinas, where cars cannot go, we tell you honestly how far the walk is.
A day with your driver
You choose the pickup time and place: your hotel, the gate nearest your riad, the airport or the port. The driver stays with you for the day, waits while you visit, takes you to lunch when you are ready and changes the plan when you want. Tell your driver the day before if you want an early start for the light or a late drive back.
Several days with the same driver
On a trip of several days, the same car and the same driver stay with you from the first day to the last. You plan the route with us before you leave, and the price is fixed for the whole trip. Each evening the driver drops you at your hotel and agrees the next morning's start time with you.
Not sure where to go? Our tours from Casablanca last 6 to 14 days and all spend a night in the Sahara. They make a good base: you can add a night, skip a city or start on another day.
How to choose a private driver in Morocco
Whoever you book, check these before you pay anything:
- A fixed price in writing, for the car, not per person, with what it includes.
- The actual car. A photo of the car that will pick you up, and its seats and luggage space.
- Real reviews on TripAdvisor or Google, recent and in several languages.
- Flight tracking. At the airport, the company should follow your flight and wait if it is late.
- A language you share with the driver for the whole trip.
- One contact who answers quickly, before and during the trip.
The cars
The car in the photo is the car that picks you up.
| Car | Passengers | Large bags | Good for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Škoda Superb, executive sedan | 3 | 3 | Couples and small families |
| Škoda Kodiaq, SUV | 4 | 4 | Four friends or a family of four |
| Ford Tourneo Custom, minivan | 7 | 12 | Groups with luggage |
| Mercedes-Benz Vito, van | 7 | 7 | Groups who travel lighter |
Every car is air-conditioned, with water on board. Child seats are on request: tell us the age of each child when you book. Beyond 7 passengers or 12 large bags you need two cars, and we quote both.

Who drives
Ismaail founded Damask in Casablanca and still drives himself. Every booking comes with an English-speaking driver. Here is what travellers wrote after their trips:
…he became a member of the family and a friend for life
He was amazing with our children.
I felt very safe because he drove well. The car was clean, too.
We have 17 reviews on TripAdvisor, all five stars. Read them on TripAdvisor (opens in a new tab).
Roads and safety
Morocco's motorways link Casablanca with Rabat, Tangier, Fès and Marrakech. Away from them, the roads are good but slower, and the mountain passes take time: the Tizi n'Tichka, between Marrakech and Ouarzazate, climbs above 2,200 m and often sees snow from November to March. Speed limits are enforced with frequent radar checks. Your driver knows these roads, and on the long days the drive is planned with breaks.

Tipping your driver
Tips are not included in our prices, and they are always your choice. Travel guides to Morocco usually suggest about 100 to 200 dirhams a day for a private driver, given at the end of the trip. That is roughly €9 to €18 at October 2026 rates.
Is there Uber in Morocco?
Yes, again. Uber came back to Morocco in November 2025, in Casablanca and Marrakech, with licensed transport companies only. Other ride-hailing apps work in the big cities too. For an airport pickup or a drive between cities, a driver booked in advance is simpler: the price is fixed before you land, and the driver follows your flight.
How to book a private driver
- Send your trip on WhatsApp: dates, pickup places, the number of passengers and large bags, and your flight number if we meet you at the airport. You can also use the booking page.
- We reply with the car and a fixed price, usually within the hour. Nothing is booked until we confirm.
- On the day, your driver meets you with your name on a sign. At the airport we follow your flight, so a late landing costs nothing extra.
Where we drive
We are based in Casablanca, in Sidi Maârouf. Our drivers cover the main routes from Casablanca: Marrakech, Rabat, Fès, Tangier, Essaouira, Chefchaouen, and the Sahara on our tours. If your trip starts somewhere else, tell us where and when, and we will tell you straight away if we can do it. Landing at another airport? See airport transfers in Morocco.
